Organic Course 1 or Course 2

March 15, 2021

Currently (March 2021) this is a moot point, since only Course 1 is available, however, toward the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year, a second version of the organic course (Course 2) will begin to become available on the site.

As a guide, the two courses were both developed for high school use, but there are significant differences between the two.

Course 1 was developed as a higher level HS course for students that had generally excelled in AP chemistry, and were looking for even more content. It was born out of my experience of teaching large elements of organic chemistry in A level in the UK, coupled with the massive gap that exists in the US between excelling in chemistry in HS (AP), and then getting wiped out by organic 101 in college (as many of those students found to be the case).

Course 2 was developed as a slower paced elective, which incorporated some of the chemistry from course 1, but for a much different audience. This course was intended for students that had some chemistry previously, but were definitely not the students that would have necessarily excelled in an AP chemistry course.
