Free AP Chemistry Tutorials during COVID-19

March 16, 2020

04/03/20: EDIT: I have decided to cancel these sessions, since following recent announcements by the College Board, I beleive that the 2020 ‘exam’ has zero integrity, and I do not wish to be part of the fiasco.

As promised, I intend to offer a series of free, online, AP Chemistry tutorials in order to help students during the COVID-19 crisis. These will be offered on a occasional basis, and all updates to the schedule will be posted on this page.

A few notes to help;

  • Sessions are delivered by ZOOM.COM
  • You will need either the ZOOM software downloaded on your computer, or the ZOOM app for mobile devices (do yourself a favor get this organized AHEAD of the meeting)
  • Meeting links will be posted approximately one hour ahead of the session
  • Sessions are FREE
  • Sessions will be a combination of a short ‘lecture’, worked AP problems, and time for Q&A via chat
  • Sessions will be recorded
  • If you arrive late, I will not be able to admit you, since once the session starts I am concentrating on delivering the session and not admitting people from the waiting room
  • There is a maximum of 500 people in any given session

    Hi Adrian,

I’ve used Zoom for the first time only this past week, so not totally on top of things. How do my students see the tutorials? Do I share your instructions and the meting time with each of them and they join the meeting on their own?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Yes, they have to use the link to join the meeting individually.

You note above that sessions will be recorded. Will students by able to watch them later if they can’t get in? How will that work?

    Hi Adrian,
Thanks for doing this. I’m using Zoom for my online classroom and unfortunately I’m teaching during your Zoom time and can’t move my class time (district thing). When will you post your Zoom sessions and where?

Hi Mr.Dingle, are you doing any more reviews?

    • Adrian

No, I believe the 2020 exam is a farce, and completely lacks integrity.

It’s understandable that you wish to not teach due to the failure on the CollegeBoard’s part, but I did watch your vids just because I was curious about chemistry, I joined the class in the middle of the school year and watching these helped me learn everything I missed. The knowledge would’ve still helped for College

Thanks for your note. Unfortunately, I’m not concerned with what might have ‘helped you College’, I am concerned with prepping students to sucked on the AP exam. Given that I believe that all integrity has been removed from the 2020 AP Chemistry ‘exam’, I want no further part of it.

Hello Mr. Dingle! Just out of curiosity and because I value your point of view, what exactly about the 2020 AP Exams make you feel like it is a farce or lacks integrity? I myself do not enjoy the outcome either, but I would like to hear more about what you think. Thank you!
