AP BREAKPOINTS

My AP Chemistry system is broken down into 12 ‘BREAKPOINTS’.

Each BREAKPOINT represents a distinct portion of the course that is delivered, and then assessed, as a single, standalone entity.

The BREAKPOINTS are numbered 1 – 12 to reflect my own, chronological sequence of delivery. The BREAKPOINTS show the highest level of course organization, and increasing detail regarding the delivery can be found firstly via the ROADMAPS and finally via the DAILY PLANNERS.

Because schedules are so diverse, each BREAKPOINT is reported as a percentage of the total time available to a teacher, rather than a specific number of meetings or a specific number of minutes. My system is organized via 109 meetings, each with an average time of 77 minutes but you can adapt as necessary to suit your circumstances. The percentage of time reported includes the delivery, the consideration of old exam questions, the completion of any labs and worksheets etc., and the assessments for each BREAKPOINT.

You will note that the percentages reported below do not add up to 100. That’s because the remaining 18.35% is used for review prior to the exam. The total percentage of 100 is based upon the time between the first day of class and the AP exam.
